  • 5 Red Chili Peppers

Instructions:

  1. Boil the chicken for 30 minutes until it is fully cooked.
  2. Remove the chicken and let it cool.
  3. Heat up a wok and add in the garlic and shallots.
  4. Sauté until fragrant and add in the red and green chili peppers.
  5. Add in the sugar and salt and continue sautéing.
  6. Once the mixture is cooked, remove from the heat.
  7. To make the sauce, mix together the soy sauce, tamarind paste, and water in a pot and simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Once the chicken is cool, take off the meat and shred it.
  9. Take 1 cup of cooked rice and put it into a bowl, and use the back of a spoon to press it down.
  10. Add in the chicken on top of the rice, followed by the chili and garlic mixture.
  11. Finally, pour over the soy sauce mixture and serve!

2. Nasi Ayam Hainan

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken
  • 5 cloves of Garlic, chopped
  • 5 Shallots, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of Sesame Oil
  • 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp of Salt
  • 2 cups of Chicken Broth

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rice and soak for 10-20 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, clean the chicken and season with salt and pepper inside and out.
  3. Put the chicken into a pot, submerge with water and bring it to boil.
  4. Continue boiling for 3 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to a minimum and continue cooking for 20 to 30 minutes till the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Remove the chicken and let it cool, then shred the chicken into small pieces.
  7. Heat sesame oil in a pan, sauté the chopped onions and garlic until fragrant.
  8. Add in soy sauce, and stir well.
  9. Add in the chicken broth and let it boil.
  10. Add in the rice and the shredded chicken.
  11. Cook on high heat until it boils, then reduce the heat and continue cooking until the rice is cooked perfectly.

3. Nasi Ayam Panggang

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Oyster Sauce
  • 2 tbsp of Honey
  • 1 tbsp of Chopped Ginger
  • 1 tbsp of Chopped Garlic
  • 1 tsp of Sesame Oil
  • 2 cups of Water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees celsius.
  2. Marinate the chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Place the chicken on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Wash the rice and put it into a rice cooker, then add in water.
  5. Cook the rice until fully cooked, then fluff it with a fork.
  6. Place the chicken on top of the rice and serve!

4. Nasi Ayam Kicap

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 5 cloves of Garlic
  • 3 Red Chili Peppers
  • 3 Green Chili Peppers
  • 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp of Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp of Sugar
  • 1 tbsp of Oyster Sauce
  • 2 tbsp of Water
  • 2 tbsp of Oil

Instructions:

  1. Cut the chicken into pieces and marinate for 30 minutes with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and water.
  2. Wash the rice and soak for 10-20 minutes.
  3. In a pan, heat up oil and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add in the marinated chicken and cook until it is half cooked.
  5. Add in both the red and green chili peppers, sugar, and dark soy sauce.
  6. Stir well and continue cooking until the chicken is fully cooked.
  7. Take 1 cup of cooked rice and put it into a bowl, and use the back of a spoon to press it down.
  8. Add in the chicken on top of the rice and serve!

5. Nasi Ayam Goreng

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups of Flour
  • 1 tbsp of Salt
  • 1/2 tbsp of White Pepper Powder
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Mix the flour, salt, and white pepper powder together in a bowl.
  2. Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten egg, then coat with the flour mixture.
  3. Heat up oil in a pan, then fry the chicken until it is crispy and golden brown.
  4. Wash the rice and put it into a rice cooker, then add in water.
  5. Cook the rice until fully cooked, then fluff it with a fork.
  6. Serve the fried chicken on top of the rice and enjoy!

6. Nasi Ayam Briyani

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Basmati Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp of Ginger Paste
  • 1 tbsp of Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp of Cumin Powder
  • 1 tbsp of Coriander Powder
  • 1 tbsp of Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tbsp of Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp of Chili Powder
  • 1 cup of Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of Milk
  • 1/2 cup of Ghee
  • 2 cups of Water

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rice and soak for 30 minutes.
  2. Marinade the chicken with all the spices and yogurt for 2 hours.
  3. Take a pot, add in ghee and water, then let it boil.
  4. Once the water is boiling, add the rice and cook until half done.
  5. Drain the rice and keep it aside.
  6. Heat ghee in a separate pot.
  7. Add the marinated chicken to this pot and fry for 5 minutes, cover and let it simmer.
  8. Add half of the cooked rice over the chicken.
  9. Add color to the milk and pour over the rice.
  10. Add the rest of the rice over the colored rice.
  11. Cover the pot and cook it for 20 to 25 minutes on low heat.
  12. Enjoy your Nasi Ayam Briyani!

7. Nasi Ayam Lemon

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tbsp of Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp of Sugar
  • 1 tbsp of Cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp of Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Lemon Zest
  • 1 tsp of Salt
  • 1/2 tsp of Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix lemon juice, sugar, cornstarch, and soy sauce together in a bowl.
  2. Season the chicken with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat up oil in a pan, then fry the chicken until it is almost cooked.
  4. Add in the lemon zest and the mixture from the bowl, stir well and continue frying for another minute or until it is fully cooked.
  5. Wash the rice and put it into a rice cooker, then add in water.
  6. Cook the rice until fully cooked, then fluff it with a fork.
  7. Place the chicken on top of the rice and serve!

8. Nasi Ayam Masak Kicap

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 5 cloves of Garlic, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Oyster Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Sugar
  • 2 tbsp of Oil

  5. Pour in the water and let it cook on low heat for another 20 minutes.
  6. Add in sugar and stir well, then take off the heat.
  7. Wash the rice and put it into a rice cooker, then add in water.
  8. Cook the rice until fully cooked, then fluff it with a fork.
  9. Place the chicken on top of the rice and serve!

9. Nasi Ayam Goreng Kunyit

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice
  • 1 whole Chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 tbsp of Turmeric Powder
  • 2 cloves of Garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp of Salt
  • 2 tbsp of Oil

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rice and soak for 10-20 minutes.
  2. Cut the chicken into pieces and season with salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Heat up oil in a pan, then sauté garlic until fragrant.
